WebWe were having a shocking situation when we touched the knobs in shower. Home was built in 1968 so yes copper pipes. Had the two elements and two thermostats replaced on an 80 gallon electric hot water heater and the problem was solved. Highly recommended that the hot water heater be replaced seeing that its about 19 years old!
