Objectives: This study investigated the long-term prognosis of patients with intermediate-risk PE and the effect of thrombolytic treatment on the persistence of symptoms or the development of late complications. Most frequently reported reasons for withholding anticoagulant therapy were bleeding risk (n = 7) and thrombocytopenia (n = 2; Table 2 legend). Median overall treatment duration was 216 days (IQR, 136 to 360 days).
